David from Victoria Nile Estates reflects deeply, saying, "Independence Day means freedom to pursue home ownership dreams. It also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the country's progress and future opportunities."

For Catherine Nanteza of Pishon Consults Limited, independence is tied to economic empowerment. She explains that, "Better planning of the country, especially cities, decent and affordable housing, and easy access to financing and profitable businesses and meaningful employment. Because all these make great clients for me as an Agent."

Offering a more philosophical take, Ivan from Brand Prop Properties notes that, "It's essential to recognize the less discussed but equally crucial role that real estate played in shaping the nation's destiny."

Dickson from Alpha Homes takes a developmental view, saying, "As an agent, Independence Day highlights the chance to contribute to Uganda's development by providing homes and spaces that allow for prosperity and growth within communities."

Not everyone shares the same sentiment, though. Victoria from Nissi Classic Cleaners candidly admits, "It means nothing [to me]." Similarly, Stella from Real Estates Uganda echoes that same feeling, saying it means "Nothing at all," and adds, "It can only mean [something] to me if I've cashed a property deal [within this independence day/month] or have some millions in my bag."

Taking an elaborate historical perspective, Ivan from Vaniland Properties Limited paints a vivid picture of transformation over the years. He says, "Uganda got her independence in 1962, that's now 63 years from then.

He add that, "By that time most of Kampala's suburbs were full of forests and bushes, for example Kyanja, Kisaasi, Namugongo, Seguku, Najjera, Buwate, etc. Today when you visit the same places, it's a different story".

Ivan also emphasizes that, "The former bushy and forested locations are now full of magnificent apartments and shopping malls, justifying the acceleration of real estate in these areas. The real estate industry has all odds to celebrate this independence because of the transformation from bushy forests to apartments and malls."

For Lazarus Mugabi of Mission Real Estate, his take is very simple and on point yet powerful, when asked what independence means to him as a real estate agent he said "Sovereignty of the State within which I do my practice."

Roline from Elevate Estate Uganda adds an inspiring perspective: "To me, Independence Day is a reminder of freedom, growth, and opportunity. As a real estate agent, it symbolizes the freedom for Ugandans to own property, build their dreams, and create lasting legacies on their own land. It's about empowerment, helping people secure a place they can proudly call home in a free and independent nation."

Shirley from the Association of Real Estate Agents offers a powerful and elaborate perspective: "So what does independence mean to me as a real estate agent? Of course, the literal meaning of independence is freedom... [however] In real estate, we are yet to achieve that state where we can celebrate and say real estate is independent." She passionately calls for real estate to be recognized as a standalone sector, one that drives Uganda's economy, shapes its cities, and reflects the nation's true wealth and progress.

Finally, Denis from Rentwide Limited connects Independence Day to the business cycle, explaining that, "Independence Day comes in the month of October, which marks the beginning of the last quarter of the year. Usually, as an agent, I expect to sell more properties during that period."
